The Umbrella Academy: Timeline changes that could happen in season 3

These guys have royally screwed up their timeline (Picture: Netflix)

***Warning: The Umbrella Academy 2 spoilers lie ahead.***

The Umbrella Academy sure know how to mess up a timeline and it turns out that you can’t have six people (and a ghost) wandering around in the past for three years without it having some effect on the future.

Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castaneda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Five (Aidan Gallagher) and Vanya (Ellen Page) have returned to the modern day to discover that pretty much nothing is as they left it.

But the five minutes of the new 2019 we saw in the season two finale is just the start of it, and while season three isn’t confirmed yet (well… not officially anyway), there’s a story there that could have massive implications on the team as a whole.

For starters? The Umbrella Academy doesn’t even exist anymore, with The Sparrow Academy standing in its place.

Here’s just a few things that have changed, and what else could have happened as a result of their adventure.

Reginald was not happy to see the Umbrella Academy (Picture: Netflix)

Reginald Hargreeves is still alive

This is already confirmed – while the bizarre billionaire killed himself in the original timeline in order to bring the team back together, in this one he didn’t need to.

(Which probably means he didn’t horrifically mistreat Vanya to hide her powers from her too.)

He’s also really mad at the Umbrella Academy arriving on his doorstep, after creating the completely different but not really Sparrow Academy instead.

The Sparrow Academy features new heroes

This one is an assumption, more than a straight out fact – but Reginald said that none of the six members of The Umbrella Academy lived there anymore.

As a result? None of them are part of The Sparrow Academy.

So this means we’re about to meet a new team of heroes, and who knows what their abilities could be.

That’s before we even get into the complication that is Ben still being alive.

Allison will probably not have Claire (Picture: Netflix)

Claire will no longer exist

This one is hard to stomach, but there’s no denying it – Allison’s daughter Claire is likely to no longer exist.

It’s sad but there are hard facts to back it up, mainly without being a member of The Umbrella Academy, she would never have met ex-husband Patrick, in order to have Claire.

We don’t even know where Claire is originally from. She might not have even come from the States.

The Umbrella Academy could be living completely different lives (Picture: Netflix)

All Umbrella Academy members will have alternate lives

While in their timeline they were bought and brought up as Umbrella Academy members, in this new version of events they could have nothing to do with Reginald at all.

They would have still be born though, at least – or a version of them was, and as a result there will be alternate versions of them in the world leading completely different lives.

Would Klaus have become a junkie? Allison an actress? Would Vanya even know how to play the violin?

And what’s more, would their lives have been better, or worse, than the one they lived as a protege of Hargreeves?

We all saw what happened to Five when he ran into an alternate version of himself, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens if they cross paths as well.

What happened to Destiny’s Children? (Picture: Netflix)

Destiny’s Children have been left without a leader

The members of Destiny’s Children were devoted to Klaus, and it’ll be weird to think that they all just stopped believing when he mysteriously disappeared.

In fact, there was space for someone to rise among the ranks, like the guy he left with a parting gift of Backstreet Boys lyrics before vanishing.

They might also have questions if he reappears, 56 years later, looking like he hasn’t aged a day – a second coming, if you will.

Raymond could have changed the world for the better (Picture: Netflix)

Raymond lived the rest of his life knowing of superheroes

If Raymond is still alive (and we really hope that he is), he will be a very old man, and would’ve spent more than half of his life aware of superheroes.

He would have also continued fighting for civil rights, and would’ve likely been at the forefront of some of the biggest moments in Black history.

We love that for him, as that was his life’s passion, though it would not have been easy and he would’ve faced some horrendous hardships in the meantime.

But did he do anything with the information he knew? And will he come to find Allison now?

The Umbrella Academy is available now on Netflix.
